Dodge Magnum

today i want to talk about my last car which my father and i designed. since my father is an auctioneer, cars roll in and out of our driveway quite frequently. one of those cars which rolled in last year was a 2007 dodge magnum with a hemi that he gave me. when it came in, it was all white with no extra work done to it. i drove it for awhile until about christmas and dad got the idea to do something different with the car. believe it or not station wagons were extremely popular cars to street rod out back in the day, and since my magnum madern day station wagon car he figured it had potential to be absolutely wicked. he was right. we started with deciding on the colors. we didnt want anything to "flashy" because we were going for the old school muscle car type look. we then contemplated the two-tone all the way down it with the bottom staying the original color, white, and the top metallic black. the next step was the wheels. we knew we werent staying stock there! it would completely destroy the muscle car look so we decided to order muscle car tires, 18 in Boyd Cottingtons in the front and 20in Boyd cottingtons in the back to give it that slanted down look. we then moved on to the body itself. every owner of a dodge magnum has the same old routine, horizontal grille; and we knew right off the bat we wanted that to change so with the help of Ebay, we ordered a Bentley grille to custom fit my car. with the final touches of a flat black and red pin stripe down the side of the car, and custom painting the Boyd cottington wheels to match the metallic, we were finished.

Creativity in musicians

although stereotypical, it is fair to say that most people agree that musicians tend to be the most creative people in the world. this of course is based off of the main two things; styles of music, the lyrics. hundreds of thousands of musicians all around the world take different approaches on all of these topics; some write love songs, some write songs of death, and some just sing about whatever comes to mind. the amazing thing about music, is any lyric can and probably is placed with nearly every style of music from country, to rock, to acoustic, to rap, to classical, to jazz. the varieties are endless, and this is without taking into the account that many musicians write their own lyrics and even though the topic (such as love) may be shared, artists particular style and lyrics can change the song from every other song about love. creativity in music is endless, it is impossible to run out of songs because of both lyrics, and cords; they can always be changed and formed into a new creation that differs from everybody else.

Creative writing

when teachers usually give paper/writing projects, it is on a certain topic. regardless, the writing demonstrated by each individual student who turns that paper in hands over hundreds words worth of creativity. papers usually with guidelines can limit the amount of creativity put forth by a student in their paper, however, every single word written by the student came from his or her own personal style and thought. this is what sets us apart from one another, we all have different ways of doing things; this to me can be a part of the definition of creativity. as we write, we gather our opinions about the text and or topic, and attempt to support it with evidence. creativity comes in play when we write, using both/either of these methods. although citing specific evidence may not necessarily be creative, the thought process that we write down to put evidence in our own words can very well be involved in creativity. our opinions, obviously, are creative as well because we are all capable of being pursuaded differently, but we all write and express ourselves in our own unique way.

does boredom create a positive or negative creativity

when people, specifically students, get bored the question "does negative creativity or positive creativity generate ideas" comes to mind. considering most college kids, such as myself, do absolute retarded things when we get bored, in my opinion the creativity is not always good. however, this makes me ask myself is there such thing as a negative creativity because part of me believes that all creativity, even if it could possibly get you into trouble, could be a way of practicing creativity. this, in a sense, could definitely be helpful in the long run. facebook, could possibly be one example in my life for this boredom. although this isnt creative, poetry that i write when i get bored could be the most creative example. i tend to write hundreds of poems to tiffany and maggie because they seem to be the only ones that give a shit. they are about thugs, sex, drugs, christina aguilara, asians, cameron diaz, alter egos, friends, apples, benjamins, the future, angels, escalades, chewing tobacco etc..

the creativity behind television

it seems to me that television shows these days are run off of pure creativity. even though the creativity may be the same as it was 15 or even 10 years ago, we as the audience have a different opinion on what type of television shows we enjoy. this means that the creative process used to come up with a television program has become more oriented with sexuality and drama. a perfect examples of this is shows such as the bachelor, the hills, rock of love, etc. the question behind the creativity of shows seems to have turned from "instead of how can we put together family shows", to "how can we generate more interest" and now a days that answer definitely seems to be through pure dramatic romance; because it is what is entertaining to us.

iphone applications

the other day i got my second, new iphone. while browsing through the application tab on my phone i realized how much creativity is involved in the application process. when it comes to apps for the iphone, there are many different people who would be benefitting from the creation of this specific tool; business owners, musicians, radio stations, and then of course just everyday people. games can be played, tools such as a level to measure if objects are straight are available, programs that recognize music if you cant think of the name, millions options for wallpapers, a remote for your itunes, youtube, social networks (facebook), the weather, email of course, workout programs, google earth etc.. all at the touch of the screen. there are millions and millions of applications available for all iphone users, which makes this program and phone the greatest in the world, and the best part is everyday people such as you and me could create our own application to benefit or to entertain others. some are free and some are a few bucks, however, the creativity behind these applications clearly has no limits and are available for absolutely anyone with an iphone.

The creative success of my father

In this blog, one of the many of my fathers creative, success stories will be told (without his permission). When my father was a teenager, his dad (my grandpa) owned a little BP gas station in a small town called Columbiana, Alabama. Dad was committed to helping support his family since he was born with a mother and father who were alcoholics and not so well off. The issue however is not that my dad, Chip, had to work, it was that he was working hard for money his parents would blow on alcohol while his friends would be hanging out. He did this from thirteen to seventeen. His senior year, he came home from work one night and recieved a phone call. One of his brothers had fallen asleep while drunk driving and was found dead. This alcohol problem in his family had opened his eyes to life, and how fragile it was. He did not want to end up like his brother, his mother, or father so he began looking for jobs to escape his surroundings. He wanted to do something not everybody could do, which was when auctioneering came into his mind. When he graduated, my father heard of an auctioneer down the road from where he lived, and without pay would go help work for him every week. At this time dad had found what he wanted to do with the rest of his life. He started with junk auctions; everyFriday he would drive to Amish country in Pennsylvania where some of the best auctioneers in the world are located. He would collect cheap items, load them in his truck, and drive back Friday night to sell on Saturdays. This lasted for a few years when he met my mother. She too was trying to start her own business of computer software at this time, but still found time to help at dads so called "auctions." In 1990, my father booked his first real estate auction, and it was a major success. However, the next was a complete failure. Four years of Auction school followed which is outrageously expensive as my parents spent everything they had on it. As auctions came, so did dad's experience in the business. With trial and many MAJOR errors, my father has reached the most successful auction company in the state of Alabama, and the top three in the southeast. He was won 2 state championships (which is the limit the country will allow) and has sold everything from millions of dollars worth of casino machines from Biloxi when Katrina hit, to a multi-million dollar college located in Birmingham. He has been involved in auto-auctions, real-estate, personal property, condos, tools, farm equipment andantiques. he is a proffesional appraiser (the one of three in Alabama) and has sold celeberities cars and houses. His success all started with the creativity of "branding" and goals. "Branding" is what most companies need in order to be successful. It is basically auction signs that make his name known when people see it, his company logo, and colors of OUR attire we wear at auctions. This all is based on creativity. What he wants on his billboards, the color of the signs (so they are easily seen and readable), the font of the text...they are all extremely important. He not only does this auction business, but has created his own side Ebay job. Being an auctioneer, a state champion auctioneer at that, who better to run an online auction business than a real "Talking fast"auctioneer? he has mastered the art behind Ebay and can just about sell anything, honestly, and fairly. Not only is my father a very successful business owner because of creativity, but my mothers business is as well. She created her own computer software that she sells to major corporations such as Wal-Mart, Target, and Bass-Pro. It organizes pay rolls which pays the employess. I feel like this story goes beyond ambition for my parents, specifically father. It starts with creativity. Finding out what you want to be. The experience follows with time. Me and my older brother Andrew who also attends Millsaps are also licensed in auctioneering and real estate. Their accomplishments has motivated us to be creative in our own way as well.
